Only Lance, Stone and Macca left now. Lance is contracted, Macca is making a sound career move by becoming player/coach, I don't think Stone will go too far, he is a local lad, probably not ready to uproot his home and social like just yet.

And by staying Stone becomes the senior player with lance and much needed experience!!??

    Hope that;
    Lance
    Stone
    Macca

Becomes the backbone now!!!!!! (though Macca wont be playing much i feel!!)

Anyway lets see what training/trials/budget brings!!!

Remind me why we have been paying Barrett this close season? Nice luxury for him now he's jumped ship.

Well, in fairness it was the Fleet Trust that chose to pay him in the close season, and their funds that went into that. We also don't know that he's been offered terms by Liam, and I hope he does well at York.

Because he was injured when he was playing for us?

I know, it hurts, but that's life I'm afraid. If you were him would you wait around to be offered a contract from Ebbsfleet United or accept the offer from York City, I know what I would do.

We've already used the "that's a kick in the teeth" pun, so don't.

I realise that, but a bit of reciprocated loyalty would have been nice. Of course he is over 24 so no compensation either. Instead he leaves us with a bag of swag and a Playstaion.

    Hi Guys,

    York fan here.
You sound a bit disappointed about losing him. As a York fan I can sympathise with losing players for nothing after you've nutured and paid them. Look at Onome Sodje for us...

Anyway. Was hoping you could let me know if he's any good or not? Is he a signing worth having?

    Cheers

It does hurt and yes I'm sure I'm being overly critical of him. A statement from him would be a nice touch. I'm sorry if I have offended you Neil, your efforts over the last couple of years for us have been admirable.

I know mate, I didn't mean to speak down to you. I am dissapointed too, it does feel a bit like he has stuck two fingers up at us but that is football, infact, thats life. Neil has been a great servent to us and a quality player, lets not forget that. I do very much see where you are coming from though.

Well thats a bolt out of the Blue, but as mentioned on another threat, they were the core of our team last year and we were not very impressive apart from a few games, so I would be interested to see if Martin Foyle can get any more out of them. Still dont fancy the thought of them back at SR against a lightweight side that we are likely to have. Still plenty have come and gone before, better to look ahead than worry about things we cant change !! Roll on Aveley !!

Luvin' your work with the Sodge joke, nice one.

Barrett is a very good player at this level and gets more than his share of goals from midfield, I suspect he will do a lot better for you than Gash will and look how much you have just paid for him.

Charles of course is better than both of them together.

If you can find yourselves a goalscorer you might be in for a fun season.

Cr*p. Sorry - technochimp here. Wrote a bit to say thanks for the info but managed to screw up my post. Indicative of York fans I'm afraid...

Hopefully got that striker you were talking about in Richard Paquette (good goal to game ratio in BSS) and Richard Brodie (20+ goals this season I hope...)

Good luck for the coming season.

We once had Pacquette on trial. He was rubbish!

    Must've changed since then though.

Well it's now officially official, you managed to ruffle a few feathers you rascal. Sorry about the loss I know what it's like to see a promising team dismantled. Best of luck.

What the hell is going on?
Either we're going to start getting a team together or we may as well pack up our bags and put the white flag out !

Really shocked at Barrett going, gotta wonder how much that frees up in the budget now though. If it's roughly the same as when this squad was put together by Liam a few years ago I think we may have a decent side this season. Roll on Wednesday and the start of pre-season and (hopefully) some signings!

Ok we all knew Gash and Charles was going there but i'm shocked at Neil and dissapointed really.

End of the day it's all about money f**k being nice to the club and fans

5 players now: Lance, Macca, Stone once he's back playing, Springett and Westy.

Pre-season training is going to be fun on Wednesday!

You are forgetting that the new contracts will be for 43/44 weeks instead of last season's 52. That means for 8 or 9 weeks Liam won't be signing ANYBODY. Now he is rested after the delights? of Glasto, he can now concentrate on trialling players to start with, getting a shortlist of around 20 -25 for the pre-season games, then decide on his final squad.
Of course he hasn't signed anybody yet. We haven't even started training yet!!

York must see us as a soft touch.

Not only have we let them have Gash and Charles at a discounted price, we let them pinch Barrett from under our noses too.

Makes the 80 grand look even worse then it did otherwise. Gash and Charles were both worth at least that on their own.

Still the club has got what it deserves by jumping into bed with MyFC.

How about you go find someone willing to spit in the half a million pounds a year our club needs to contend for promotion. Hmmmm? Not easy finding bed partners is it? I guess we'll be sharing those fleas after all

Forget promotion, survival will be a result the ways things are going.
