Where did that goal come from ?
His 112th appearance for the Fleet (96 starts and 16 as sub according to the official site) and his first ever goal for us is a corker like that!
A moderate first half - just the type of game you'd expect from 2 teams with nothing much to play for,but Wrexham came out strong early in the second half & Ricko's goal was certainly against the run of play. After that, it turned into a decent game where both teams could have scored further goals.
The win keeps our unbeaten league record at home for 2009 intact as well - 6 wins and 3 draws since that defeat by Grays on Boxing Day. An excellent stat particularly in view of the fixture pile up and the need to play 3 games a week in the last 5/6 weeks of the season.
Equally decent is the fact that we've taken 19 points from our last 10 league games - if we had maintained that over a whole season, we'd be close to automatic promotion & certainly in the play offs - I know its a big IF and we did have several games against sides in the bottom half in that period, but again with the injury situation during that time & the number of fixtures played in ashort space of time, another impressive effort.
We could still finish 11th if we win both our remaining games and Rushden & Eastbourne fail to win their last games and overall I'd be happy with that, in conjunction with the Trophy Semi Final & Setanta Shield Semi Final.
