Ok, I thought I'd take the plunge and start a real fleet & football related thread.

I know last night was rubbish and most won't want to think about this, but lets remain positive, bare with me.... Apart from Charles (who seems to be embarrassingly head and shoulders above everyone else)who do you think has been our stand out player this half year?

I'd have to admit, apart from a few average performances recently, Neil Barrett has won me over, he has definitely matured into that swashbuckling captains role. Other notable mentions would have to be for Mr Cronin, how fortunate are we to have him between the sticks?!

For me it has to be either Barrett or Cronin aswell. I reckon Barrett just wins it though.

I think Lance, he's done a few great saves so far this season. Barrett has also done great so far!

I've been impressed with Ricketts when he's at right-back, though it seems he's there because Hawkins is slowing down a tad...

Apart from Lances laps last night thinking he was David James i would have to give him the nod over Ricketts and Barrett

Barrett is having a great season and of course Charles as mentioned above, and I've been impressed with Jamie Hand when he's played.

Pooley was looking pretty good in recent matches but the curse of the centre backs struck again last night, I suppose Saturdays pairing will be whoever is fittest from the walking wounded.

I say Barrett above cronin, but i also believe luke moore, before the injury he suffered, was terrific.

And who do people believe has been our worst, from people that start quite often.

I'd say Sacha, he's not been so bad , but he's not stuck out to me like he did last season I think.
But lets look at positives to fleet!

It might just be me, but it seems as if Pooley only really plays well when he is playing alongside a commanding centre back, ie Darius. He certainly looked out of sorts when filling in at right back. He does look a tidy player at times though.

I think Purcell has improved recently. He seems to have shed some weight since the pre-season games and is a bit lighter and quicker on his feet.

Lance of course is like a rock in the goal, just what you need in a keeper, someone you don't have to keep looking out for, but certainly Ricketts has looked good of late and Purcell is starting to impress...
Sadly, Sacha doesn't look the same player he was last season and Long seems to be marked out of virtually every game.

Away from Charles, I'd have to agree and say Lance with Barrett a close second and probably Ricketts third. The rest are too inconsistent. Hand shows flashes of brilliance followed by something woeful; Stone playes well for 45 minutes then goes missing the second half; Stacey and Luke are being closed down too quickly; Sacha is not playing with the confidence we've seen from him and Gash - well, let's not go there. Pooley has impressed me when he's been on the pitch and George is now starting to play well.

For Player of the Season at the moment, I'd have to go for Neil Barrett .... still early days though. Not even half way through the season yet.

moore, when he's on his game, is a class above

....but he's not on his game consistently enough!

Charles is a real asset to the side - am I right in thinking he is on loan?

Purcell has came bak into the side looking hungry and keen to make an impression, always has defenders on the back foot when running...

The Gash-man has yet to live up to the £20k price tag. Had he come in for small fee, I think everyone would be a lot happier with the return he has given.

Ahhhh... a trip down memory lane...

Quite apt I thought given Lance's performance at the Kiddie game, and his excellent Beeb interview yesterday
