Following Chester not playing tonight as they did not have enough players, I have assumed they may now be thrown out of the league and any points scored by teams against them this season will be deducted. I therefor make the bottom of the table look like this:
Barrow 28
Cambridge 27
Ebbsfleet 27
Salisbury 26
Forest G R 23
Grays 14
Chester Out

Table without Chester

Don't forget Gateshead only have 25 points so they'd occupy the last relegation spot
Posted 6 months ago # -
Forgive me if this is a stupid question: but if Chester get thrown out, will that leave three relegation spaces rather than four? Or will they just not count and all four spaces remain? If this is the case then I'm worried...
Posted 6 months ago # -
Three I would have thought Hannah.
Any chance of Portsmouth going bust and there being only two?
Posted 6 months ago # -
Sorry I missed out Gateshead on 25 points. I did this bleary eyed at midnight after watching the Histon game.
Barrow 28
Cambridge 27
Ebbsfleet 27
Salisbury 26
Gateshead 25
Forest G R 23
Grays 14
Chester Out
The big loseres here are Cambridge by 6 points. Would love to finish above them!!Posted 6 months ago # -
Poor ol Grays...
Posted 6 months ago # -
Will Chester not have to carry on playing if they can, and field there youth side similar to Weymouth last season?
Posted 6 months ago # -
Perhaps Chester will carry on but be docked another 10 points or so.
It would be funny if it wasn't so sadPosted 6 months ago # -
Have updated my previous spreadsheet with recent results.
The scenario for the whole table with Chester gone can be found here:

I do apologise Dave, did it somewhat in a rush at work. Goes to show how interesting my work is! Anyhow, I have somehow managed to find a gap in my busy shedule and have fixed it just for you. I hope this satisfies you

Good work Ian.

Whilst I have every sympathy with Chester City's supporters and indeed their players. I really think that their refusal to travel to Forest Green for last nights match really must be their last chance gone and be the final nail in their coffin. Their on-going threats of non-attendance at matches, pitch invasions leading to match abandonments, and their on-going financial problems are bringing the whole of the Conference into disrepute.
There is no point in a further points deduction as a penalty for last night, Chester City should now be thrown out of the league with immediate effect.

Latest gossip on this saga is dragged from Conference Forum :
The Deva Stadium has been served with a prohibition notice on safety grounds. Until the notice is removed, all games at the ground will have to be played behind closed doors.
It appears the policing bills haven't been paid, and no police = no safety = no games.

"Confirmed" by local media - http://www.chesterchronicle.co.uk/chester-city-fc/chester-city-fc-news/2010/02/10/chester-city-fc-sunday-s-deva-stadium-derby-called-off-59067-25805586/
According to Wrexham there are talks "continuing behind the scenes and that there maybe other developments in this saga" - http://www.wrexhamafc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10311~1961556,00.html

The Conference only have one choice now, otherwise they will be the laughing stock of football in this country, enough is enough.

Ian's link is blocked on my company's server, so i did my own
By my calcs this would be good for Gateshead and Eastbourne and leave us further in relegation trouble
Not a good night all round really

Can't Chester have a play off with Portsmouth and whoever wins gets to survive?
The gate money used will go to the winning club as will the television revenue and the match could be live on Sky and played at Wembley stadium.
We could call it the "Liquidation Trophy".

If you presented the trophy, shouldn't it the "Liquidator Trophy"?

I thought they only had one choice the other two times this came up but the decision kept being 'deferred'. The decent thing would have been to wind up this farce months ago.
And what's more, it's of little surprise that Conference Board member and all-round oar-sticking busybody Colin Peake now suddenly has a vested interest:

That said, one of his points - "We'll look at our own insurance for business interruption"... do we have such insurance? Teams who have already played Chester will get their full 23 home league games played in terms of matchday income. We will now lose perhaps £10k or thereabouts because we might only play 22. A case for an insurance claim?

The plot thickens !!
THE New Saints could move from their Oswestry base after applying to ground share with Blue Square Premier strugglers Chester City next season.
The revelation comes after the ambitious title chasers were refused grant aid for further development of their Park Hall stadium by Welsh Grounds Improvement last month.
TNS had applied for funding towards the cost of a 1,000-seater stand and other upgrading work, and managing director Mike Harris yesterday confirmed the application to share the Deva Stadium.
The matter will be considered by the FAW, with Harris looking to ensure the club meets the new licence criteria to play in next season's slimmed-down Welsh Premier.
"We are exploring all options at the moment, of which ground-sharing with Chester is one," Harris told the Shropshire Star.
The move follows Harris's disappointment and frustration at being refused grant aid that would enable Park Hall to meet the new criteria and he described the FAW's move to deny TNS help towards upgrading the ground as "short-sighted".
The Saints are in their third season at the £3.5 million Venue at Park Hall development, which is owned by Harris, after moving from Llansantffraid.Posted 6 months ago # -

Yeah, Peaky has two hats or something.

Haven't seen a response, but aren't there four promotion spots from the division below? Unless Chester is made to forfeit all of its matches (0-0-46), rather than be thrown out and have result expunged, then we're back to having little room for error. Not that we have much at this time.Forgive me if this is a stupid question: but if Chester get thrown out, will that leave three relegation spaces rather than four? Or will they just not count and all four spaces remain? If this is the case then I'm worried...
Posted 6 months ago # -
But it will still mean that 4 teams will get promoted to bring the number of teams up to 24, so if Chester get expelled it will be as follows:
Chester (expelled)
Grays (relegated)
then perm any 2 from about 6 or 7 teams, unbelievably if Chester go this would include Cambridge United.I have taken the liberty of already relegating Grays
Posted 6 months ago # -
Sorry, I had not thought of Chester returning in a lower form on the evolutionary chain. I had not counted them among the four.
