Following Saturday's result, the club wishes to release the following request to its many supporters on behalf of the CEO, Chairman, Vice Presidents, MyFootballClub Trust Board and the Fleet Trust Board.

As of June 1 2009, it's estimated the football club will have a positive bank balance of around £30,000.

This does not include sales of 09/10 season tickets, but takes into account Eurostar sponsorship money (May 09 to April 10) plus all the funding available from MyFootballClub (approximately £80,000 as of 23/3/09).

It's rare for any professional football club, in any league, not to be burdened by debt, and we are in a minority of clubs in the Blue Square Premier, South and North divisions to be in such a position.

If we work together over the next couple of months, we can take advantage of this situation.

We estimate an extra £25,000 needs to be found each month to keep our playing squad as competitive as possible. Without additional and ongoing funding, the football club faces a tough 09/10 season.

Our strategy must be two-fold; keeping costs to an absolute minimum at the club, while raising extra funding to ensure the best possible Ebbsfleet United team takes to the pitch every week.

    Cost cutting
From April 1st, a number of cost cutting measures will take place. Club CEO David Davis has offered to work on a voluntary basis for the club. A further saving has been made thanks to the generosity of Fleet Group Development (FGD), who is contracted to the club in order to deliver a new stadium. FGD have agreed to work for free of charge on behalf of the club, which could mean a saving of up to £40,000 per year.

    Fund raising - giving monthly
Unlike other clubs, The Fleet does not rely on a single benefactor or small group of directors. The club's funding comes from its thousands of supporters across the world. This means that everyone giving The Fleet an affordable amount each month will help put the football club in a sustainable position.

The club's single biggest cost is its playing staff. Through 'Friends of the Fleet', supporters are able to contribute monthly, to invest in the playing staff, to help keep the club as competitive as possible for the 09/10 season.

Many individuals have already offered to give monthly to the club. In addition, The Fleet Trust has confirmed that it will contribute a monthly sum. And the club's ex-Directors have also agreed to give the club £300 each month.

Please join those who are contributing extra to the club by taking a look at the Friends of the Fleet page HERE. 2,500 Friends of the Fleet giving £10 each month (that's less than a pint of beer a week!) will help us find that additional £25,000 per month.

We have little over two months until the 2009/2010 playing budget is set on June 1 2009. Please help us to sign up as many Ebbsfleet United supporters as possible to Friends of the Fleet so we can build towards a successful 2009/2010 season.

(Note to moderators - please moderate this thread to only include posts from those who are/intend to contribute monthly to Friends of the Fleet. Thank you.)

I will be sending in the Stand Order form. It's not much really for something you believe in and enjoy so much.

The more expansive (and expensive) package does not really work for me as I go with my two lads and we want to sit in the Plough End. So paying for access to the boardroom etc is a bit wasted

PS The Club must stay full time and Liam must stay as manager.

Set up £10 standing order. Would have done it anyway but that the directors took the lead really impressed me.

The Fleet seem to be ahead of the game on this one and I hope that the idea works.
However whilst supporters continue to contribute to the cause, the players who earn quite enough for what they enjoy, cannot justify wages as indicated for what is, after all ,the fifth level of football.
I believe that next season UK football will see a massive reduction in player's salaries at all levels as sponsorship becomes hard to find during the summer.
Also, as more and more people lose their jobs, player's salaries not only become unsustainable but also immoral as society adjusts to the current economic climate.

Well, I can't get to matches as much as I'd like - this is a great way to make up for it - I'm in from the beginning of next month.

I am hoping that most supporters are not into blowing their own trumpets - not onto our 2nd page here of people saying they have pledged & stuck on page 4 on the MyFC site after an initial mad rush. We need 2,500 people at an average of £10. As far as I know, all MyFC members got an email which appears at the top of this thread. Are there ways we can spread wider? Do we have a database of people who bought Wembley tickets last year for example?

Anyway, a bit more than a tenner set up by standing order & crash helmet ordered. The current account is a joint one & the Bad Wife, who already thinks I have my priorities wrong, is bound to notice!

I hear what you're saying Graham, ours is too and I'm not looking forward to the day she spots it on the internet banking.

The future of EUFC is surely worth a bit of a kicking though isn't it!

I mentioned this appeal on the Ebbsfleet Facebook page as well, last time I looked there were no replies...

And I have to hide this £10 a month from Mrs Fleetzone 'cos she'll kill me.... we're supposed to be cutting back...

If your good lady is looking over your shoulder while you post. Oops! Sorry dear.

Does anyone know if there will be handout information at the next home game, and thereafter concerning the appeal together with Standing Order mandate forms. Not all fans have access to a PC. Just a thought.

According to Jessica, the information will be handed out for the rest of the season. Standing order forms will also be available from the club office and the club shop as well as on-line.

Oh yes, indeed. Many of us carry the scars of decades of good kickings earned on behalf of loyalty to the Fleet. Somehow, knowing deep down you're right & she has her priorities wrong, despite thinking she's on the moral high ground, makes it less painful & easier to bear.

And of course there's always those who positively enjoy a good kicking from the missus - but we won't go there on a family forum ...

I would have thought that not many fans would think of going to the office, and quiet a number will not visit the shop either as most would have purchased what they wanted way back in the season.
Just inside the turnstiles where Harry stands selling the 50-50 tickets would be a better idea I think.

Just cancelled my Setanta subscription to switch the money to the Fleet - will set it up asap. Much better use of the money anyway, don't know why I didn't think of it before.
The thieving gets claim that your 30 days notice only takes effect from your next billing date, so if anyone else cancels their Setanta subs (for any reason), do it as close to your billing date as possible otherwise you'll end up paying for longer.

Having received my "Thank You" envelope yesterday, and discussed with mates, I think we are more than happy to invest a tenner a month (perhaps more). I just think the club are missing an opportunity here. A few weeks ago the flyers came around for the MYFC packages, which I did not feel were good value. I spoke to staff and then e-mailed the following.

"I spoke to you last night about the MYFC promotions and deals. Just to re-iterate, and without being critical, my mate and I did not feel that the £220.00 deal was that attractive as it did not include a season ticket. Is it possible to include the MYFC membership and a season ticket for the remainder of this and next season and maybe a couple of the more novelty items shown for around £220- £250, with the ability to pay per quarter? That way the first quarter is paid and the money goes into the MYFC coffers, the next at the end of the season say June time, then September and then December. I want to invest in the club, but feel I am a silent majority within the MYFC family. I want to be a part of something but don't expect £35 per year to allow me pick the team. "

That was in Feb and still no response. It does feel fragmented at the moment, with both Fleet and MYFC wanting positive things for the club. So why not talk together and get a monthly/ quarterly package for season ticket, MYFC membership and a £10 donation per month arranged. My feeling is if I'm buying my season ticket with my monthly payment then I'm getting something for the donation part. Perhaps it's a bit of a placebo effect, but I'd sign up tomorrow. It just seems so slow when we need the support and commitment.
