Just read the Non League Paper and the item regards the Team of the Day, whilst it it please to see 4 Fleet players in the team and Liam as "Manager of the Day" I cannot understand how Peter Holmes was not in this team.

Which fleet players were in the team?
Posted 8 months ago # -
Lance, Gavin Heeroo, Ricky Shakes & Magno

Ricky was so lively yesterday.
One of the best matches I have seen him have for us.

Another pop at myfc on page 4.
Just ban Chris Dunlavy from the ground.

Lance was reading a smutty magazine for most of yesterday afternoon, Gavin made a great block early on and was solid afterwards but hardly team of the day, Ricky had one of his better games but whoever picked these guys wasnt at the game yesterday.
Magno, despite missing a sitter and a penalty put in enough effort to warrant his place, Peter Holmes would be an understandable inclusion and possibly Ross at a pinch but either no goalkeepers in anyside made any saves at all yesterday or Lances selection demonstrates what a joke the Non League Paper is.

What do they say about MyFC Jimmy ?

Safe journey back Mister Fox?
I ask on here as the Stasi deleted it when I asked it on MyFC about 20 minutes ago.

? dont know why that happened.
Rain all the way,got within 5 miles of home and got held in traffic for an hour behind an accident. Ended up going on back roads and think it was 4.30 ish when we got in, so trips have been better. Great night though

Ouch. It was worth it to see us win though.

What do they say about MyFC Jimmy ?
Interpreting the votes on PTT, buying out the operator & raisng the membership fee to £100 as proof that's it's all over for MyFC. That the local fans have bought the club for £15k, but that it's losing £250k a year & that come February the whole experiment will be over. Oh & we're doomed to relegation.
Never let the truth stand in the way of a good story.

Their "journalist" Dunlavy never has anything good to say about the club - he should be banned from the ground.

It doesnt mention the word local fan and only says it looks like we are doomed for relegation.try reading it again. What do they say about MyFC Jimmy ?

He doesn't need to be banned just make him pay for his admission like everyone else.

Chas webster gave the ratings and all the fleet players had a 7 or 8,i believe its only based on league games and thier was less than normal due to the fa cup.Nobody got higher ratings from other teams and i expect the editor sympathetic in our favour.Lance was reading a smutty magazine for most of yesterday afternoon, Gavin made a great block early on and was solid afterwards but hardly team of the day, Ricky had one of his better games but whoever picked these guys wasnt at the game yesterday.
Magno, despite missing a sitter and a penalty put in enough effort to warrant his place, Peter Holmes would be an understandable inclusion and possibly Ross at a pinch but either no goalkeepers in anyside made any saves at all yesterday or Lances selection demonstrates what a joke the Non League Paper is.Posted 8 months ago # -

Ok. It says "effectively the real Fleet fans have bought back their club for £15,000." The use of "back" suggests it implies the original ie local fans to me.
And it says "have left them already looking a firm relegation bet."
Both quotes from the editorial on page 6 which builds on the article on page 4 by Dunlavy & Elliott.
I think I have misrepresented the NLP much less than they have done us a mis-service. Are you just spoiling for an argument, Hopeful?
Posted 8 months ago # -
No argument needed, but it looked to me like you were refering to the article by dunlavy and elliott.Judging by jimmy and daves nan comments so did they.

I think what irritates me about the article & the editorial together is that they give the overwhelming impression that we (both MyFC & the Fleet) are doomed to go out of existence: "For the true fans we hope it works out, but the collapse of the ill-starred MyFC could be the beginning of the end."
Despite the champagne on hold in John's fridge, the truth is that our existence almost certainly depends on enough people taking on the new memmbership in February when the bulk of renewals come up. Articles like this will only deter people from what will now appear as stuffing a sinking ship with their hard earned cash. I'd like to see The NLP allow space in a future edition for us to put the other side of the story.

As much as I love the players selected in the team of the week in the NLP I was as amazed as you that four were included and Peter Holmes was overlooked. I gave Magno and Peter 8/10. How the others got in is anybody's guess. I don't have a clue how they pick players if it is not based on ratings. Pip pip. Lord C
