Patience is a virtue.
Liam is presently conducting trials. Be in no doubt he will sign players of good quality. But he mustn't be rushed into signing rubbish.
I suspect even Liam doesn't want to travel to Altrincham with only 6 players.Posted 1 year ago # -

Not sure even Liam can pull rabbits out of an hat this timePosted 1 year ago # -
I have confidence in him....

How can he sign quaility players without a decent budget. Big mistake messing York around regarding Gash, that money plus his wages would have made a huge difference.

Thats only 1 rabbit! He needs to pull out another 7 to give us a chance, if you allow for the fact we have McCarthy, Cronin, Gash, Charles and West as first teamers with experience at this level.
Its possible there maybe 2/3 players in the Gravesend League that could potentially step up but that really is a big ask. Add to them youngsters from the PASE team, as well as youngsters released by League Clubs that just want to play football and don't want silly money and you have the basis for a team.
A lot still seems to rely on Gash and possibly Charles moving on before any sort of experience is brought in. Experience of course costs money, which appears to be in short supply at present.

Plus i would guess Mcarthy wont want to be playing/used much, so i wouldnt count him personally!!??

I see where your coming from but personally I think we will be stuffed if McCarthy doesn't play at least 75% of games this season,, if the team is made up of youngsters.
Now who was it that said you won't win anything with youngsters?

How did WE mess YORK around regarding Gash? If they were serious about him, they wouldn't have linked the two players in an all-or-nothing offer. There's nothing stopping York from putting forth a decent offer for Gash on his own.

Will Gash be professional enough to give us 100% commitment as he had set his heart on the move too York. I have my doubts..........

He's a professional, we pay his wages - he either gives his all for us, or other teams will notice him not playing to his best - and who would buy a player who doesn't give his all?

hi guys - York fan here.
I think you'll find that York put a bid in of £50K for Gash singular and your board decided to sit on it waiting (IMO) to see if you got any better offers. The York Press website now states that Gash has injured his ankle, so no transfer will likely go through, which is why, I guess, your manager is saying he will start the season with Gash in the side.
Had you accepted Yorks offer straight away Gash wouldn't have started pre-season training with you lot and would therefore have injured his ankle as a York player.
Not sure if the latter is true, but York wanted both players (Gash and Charles) and the joint bid would probably have saved us money than putting in two seperate bids, due to the unique way your club is run.
Hope you don't mind me joining in your forum but it's so much better than Yorks and anyway - I keep checking to see if there is any info regarding a move for Charles or Gash.

He'd have to if he's to progress in his football career.

Speaks99. Nice to have a fresh view, but please don't refer to our club as "you lot" It' not the way to win friends. Welcome anyway.

And a welcome from me too Speaks99, always nice to have an alternative view

Appologies, did not mean to offend by my abasive manner.
I am starting to get a bit worried that I am more up to date with your news than I am with Yorks. Makes me a bit mercenary??!?

If I understand it correctly, the MyFC board shouldn't be sitting on any offers. Unless I've misread things (quite possible), any offer Daish feels is reasonable is supposed to be put to the members for vote. The board aren't supposed to make those decisions on their own.
I may have missed a vote giving our power away to the board on these kinds of deals, but if so, I sure as hell would have voted against it. MyFC was set up to let the members decide, not for the board to do so.
So that leaves one of a few possibilities:
1) no such offer for Gash actually came in
2) an offer came in, but it wasn't attractive to Liam
3) an offer came in that Liam could live with, and the board nixed itI can accept options 1 or 2. Option 3 would piss me off, so I'm hoping it wasn't the case. I don't need the stress.

Tend to agree with you rsheard...
Right from the beginning of MyFC the complaints were that the members didnt really have any say in certain matters, can't believe its still going on after all this time - hardly the way to attract new members

I may have missed a vote giving our power away to the board on these kinds of deals, but if so, I sure as hell would have voted against it. MyFC was set up to let the members decide, not for the board to do so.So would I be right in saying that all the offers that have so far been put to MYFC members were acceptable to Liam Daish and the sale of the player(s) would have been part of his plan.
If that is correct then Morecombe's £42,500 bid for Gash would have been the start of using the sale of our assets to build a new team. Would all MYFC members been aware of this when they voted at the time?
I have the impression that up until the York double bid for Gash and Charles they were not.
Would the result of been any different if they had?Posted 1 year ago # -

I wouldn't discount the fact that someone from York could be telling porky pies, but I can't see what they would achieve by it. It would have been just as easy to say we weren't prepared to pay £42k (i.e. the Morecomb bid) on him and were persuing other avenues which would have kept the fans happy. Also we didn't manage to buy Gash and Charles due to Charles not wanting to leave home so that in no way reflects badly on the club.
On the other hand, I can't see what advantage Ebbsfleet board would get by rejecting a decent offer since they'd already accepted the Morecomb bid. There certainly seems something fishy somewhere (and I bet its not cockles from Morecomb...)
I understand an unamed BSP club had a £50k offer for a histon player rejected which was rumoured to be York, so we definately have money to spend...
Anyway. I don't have any answers, you don't have any answers and only the York and Ebbsfleet board really know the truth. whatever happens it makes an interesting saga!!

All i know is that this saga is potentially crippling our chances of survival this season. We need the cash for the playing budget and we need to sell Gash to help this.
Needs sorting asap.

Needs sorting asap.Completly agree with this, we need to get rid for the right price ASAP otherwise we won't have a squad for this season, it's that simple.

Still no signings and 1st pre-season game on monday really encouraging signs i must say. Will we be fielding a team of 16yr olds. I fear for the club this season, can see a relegation dog fight all season. please prove me wrong...........................
Posted 1 year ago # -
There's still a month to go, I just don't know what you're worried about. Pre-season is used to trial players and we're not going to waste what money we have on players who Liam Daish hasn't seen play any matches.
