Darius doesn't want to leave London for personal reasons. York want to restructure deal but just for Gash. £60K for Gash and we keep Darius would be OK.

York only Valued Darius at £10k so if we were to hold out for 70k would we get it ? I would accept 60k for Gash, now that would be a great result !

I would be happy to keep darius, so york if your listening, bid for £60k for gash and you can have him.

don't forget everyone, that daish was relying on offloading both of these players to bring the weekly budget up to £6,750. So for now, we are back to square one, and little money for a squad. Sorry to be a killjoy.

Yeah. We were already scratching our heads about how to come up with £60K to cover the Setanta losses. Now we need to find another £60-80K for the playing budget. Oh well, onwards and upwards.

But on the upside - we have two class players back I hope someone wins the lottery and they stay!

Cant see York bidding £70k for Gash. We all new that Charles was worth more than £10k - it was a cheeky bid from York to test the water.

Morecambe's striker signing fell through yesterday too. Can't we launch a three-way firesale between them, York and Luton?

I doubt York will offer much more than 50k... they and us will be keen to wrap the whole thing up I imagine and get on with things. We need the cash and we need players. We're not going to get either with Gash in the side so let's sell him and move on quickly.

yeah - i dont see this as good tbh!! unless we can sell gash for 60k+ and keep darius which would be nigh on superb... i love gashy but i feel he would be more replacable than the rock at the back...

Given the sales off and the setanta crises our player budget presumably is about 2.5k a week at the moment which would mean we can't get anyone unless they are free.
Holding out for more cash is not an option, we have to sell.

Darius is a rock, yeah. On the other hand - if it's going to be a long-ball game this season we need someone hard-working up front to take them down and put them away.

I suprised so many of you feel you would like to keep the players when it's obvious you need them to leave. York are to put in another bid for Gash only with a vote to be taken again and concluded by 12 tomorrow. I guess it needs to be higher than the 42k you turned down. Not worth it in my view and we should be walking away but we must rate him.

Liam has probably already spent the 80 grand in his head, so he won't be happy with this, we need to get something out of this deal so the 60k for MG would be acceptable.

But now we have released Smudger, there won't be as many hoofs upfield. And don't forget, darius enjoys playing the ball out to feet.

    Great news.

Hopefully it means that if both players still have to leave the club can negotiate the best possible price individually.

£80k was nowhere near their true value.

Neil Barrett must be feeling a bit 'lonely' now.

But what are you basing 'true value' on John? There are not many club-to-club paid transfers in the BSP and if Gash was worth £20,000 last season, is he really worth more than double it a year later? I don't think so and would see £50k as a good bit of business in the current climate where precious few teams are splashing money around. There are plenty of York fans on their forum saying they should look to spend their £80k elsewhere and get a better deal.

Charles is indeed worth more than he would have gone for in the £80k deal but can't see anyone paying much more than £50k individually.

Maybe, just maybe, some of us would like to have a couple of experienced players in our team next season rather than having to field the St Georges School under 17 squad !!!

I agree with Ed. Brentford sold Charles for £25,000, we were about to sell him for £40,000. Maybe he could have gone for more but then what exactly is his real worth if Brentford sold him for that price? I thought £40,000 was a good deal for Gash. Am a bit disappointed with this news really. On the plus side we have more players but that's a lot of money gone from the kitty for any other players.

Given the wonders of MYFC everyone knows the situation at the fleet. There's no chance anyone's going to pay more when they know the club has to sell both of these to have a realistic chance of having a squad next year.

In getting the MYFC vote through you guys have been fairly candid with how much you need to offload the players. I don't think you'll make more for them individually than you would as a pair. As a York fan I'm kind of hoping we put another bid in for Gash, but no more than what Morecombe offered. After all, so much more info has come to light since then - i.e. you need ot get rid to put together a manageable squad. I bet other clubs will feel the same.

TBH I think Charles has screwed you guys more than us, unless you can somehow work out an arrangement to increase your wage budget you might have to let him go on the cheap.

I am hoping that you put in another bid for Gash as well.

    I'd take £50K.

Are you kidding in the current climate. Don't forget that since this deal was on Satanta have collapsed. You could end up with less not more. From a York perspective I would imagine we will now have agents banging at the door. They know we have money and many clubs are now in dire straights regarding the loss of the satanta money.

I don't know how much you think gash is worth but I can tell you looking around the forums most fans think we would have been ripped off at 40k.

I think the offer of 42k was an extremely good one and I was surprised that was turned down. He does not have the pedigree or goalscoring record at this level to be worth any more. I still think we (York) should walk away and look at better options.
