Great idea. How do we subscribe during the close season. Some folks me included will not trust online subs in case of possible fraud. Nor standing orders, I personally would sooner pay cash.

If we have a maintenance weekend in June, and a pre season friendly in July, then those 2 months are covered for when people could hand in any cash to Jessica.

What really pisses me off about all of this (ie. supporters giving donations to the club etc.) is that as a supporter of the club for over 45 years and one that wants nothing to do with the farce that was and still is MyFC, if I was to donate a lump-sum or sign-up for the £10 per month donation scheme, I would still have no say, or voting rights, with regard to any of the decisions that are currently being made by the MyFC membership. Even though over a year (if you take the £10 per month donation scheme) I would have donated considerably more cash than the majority of the MyFC members would have done over the same period.
Before anyone asks, I thought the MyFC takeover was wrong at the time it happened, I still think that ultimately I will possibly be the downfall of the club and lastly no I haven't signed-up for any of the donations schemes as I am currently un-employed as a result of redundancy.

Totally agree with all that John.
Unfortunately we were perceived as idiots a year or so ago.Posted 1 year ago # -
For those wishing to pay monthly by cash , mention it to Jessica in the shop and she will give you a stamp addressed envelope.

That said, from the outset, MYFC should have recognised the input local supporters make to the club, and offer some incentives to join - free membership to season ticket holders and mini- season ticket holders, non season ticket holders get a loyalty card - 10 stamps = free membership and so on. It wouldn't have cost the earth (nothing), and would have demonstrated that the scheme truly encompassed the local fans as well,. The locals would hace been a tiny proportion of the membership - even now would represent less than 10%, but one would FEEL part of the MYFC thing.
I was going to suggest something on those lines to the club and MYFc, but I an unsure how it would go down.
In a old (and badly abused) thread on the old forum I suggested at least make the MYFC forum readable to club members. That was frowned upon by the members.
Now the more "volotile" members have gone - maybe it is somethingworth looking at again - MYFC needs everyone it can get. Having a peek into the workings and a preview of how the mechanism works might just attract a few more members.
Having said all that, I still thing the old board were left with little choice in who aquired the club. They are the only ones who will know how close the club was to going bust, but given the seemingly undue haste with which the takeover occured, my bet the club was perilously close to going under.
No rich buyer could be found, in steps MYFC to clear all the clubs and directors debts . What would anyone do given that choice?
Mistakes have been made, they were bound to happen given the radical idea that is MYFC, but it does look as if they are here to stay, in a tighter, reduced capacity. The non members who attend matches need to embrace MYFc , but at the same time, MYFC need to reach out and offer a branch of freindship to the locals.Posted 1 year ago # -

I think it'll still be worth the effort. Good post Gaz. I think interaction between MyFC and locals is steadily improving.

I may be one of the "more volatile" MyFC members to whom Gaz refers (and I haven't gone as I signed for the second year early in proceedings) - however, I was the one person who posted on MyFC that we should make the forum viewable to Fleet fans who didn't want to join MyFC. Hardly anyone agreed with me. Building Bridges? I started that on MyFC. No-one wanted to play. Let them join if they want to view, was the general consensus. I think you'll find that it was the "establishment" who didn't want to do it ... all these things get forgotten in the mists of time, but I have a lot of reasons for remembering.

Never really implied you, Sal, always thought you were more moderate than many, and always had some nice things to say.
As I said, mistakes have been made - on both sides, but in order to truly build those bridges, lines have to be drawn in the sand and start afresh.
I think most, but not all on here agree.Posted 1 year ago # -
