It says they need to agree a fee or it will go to a tribunal - does that mean he accepted our contract offer first?
If so he will have done us a good turn.
Good luck to him he deserves to play League football.

As far as I know all we had to do was offer him a contract on the same terms to qualify for a fee. It didn't matter whether he rejected or accepted it.

Darius has certainly come a long way since his debut for us on Good Friday 2008... at Broadhall Way, as it happens.

Amongst other things, his slaloming runs in the dying embers of matches will certainly be missed.

He deserves to be in the league, can anyone really be suprised at this news? It would be selfish to peg him back and play another season with us. Good luck Darius.

At this rate i think we will be looking at a brand new squad of players, can't see many sticking if we go part time.

Still - it might make a few quid for the club kitty. Is the club moving to sign a couple of the other youngsters too then?

I doubt we would get that much probably a few grand if we are lucky. Speaking of which this is similar to the bostwick deal when he went to stevenage a couple of seasons ago, any idea how much we got from the tribunal for him in the end.

Couple of things on this i'm happy for Darius because he is league standard and wish him the best of luck and thank him for what he has done for us.

    BAD THINGS!!
Westly must love it past couple of years hes got Michael Bostwick, Stacy Long on frees and now Darius near enough, I really can't see when we will know what is going on next season it's a joke!

Best of luck Darius. Thank you for your efforts and loyalty to this club over the last couple of years, you will be sorely missed.

The move was definitely not unexpected but is a body blow nonetheless.

I assume that the contract that was offered to Darius can now be transferred to another under 24 player who might become a target for transfer, such as Cronin, Ash or Magno.
If they leave, we might as well get some compensation for them.

    Gaz,

Any offer to a player under the age of 24 had to be made by May 8th, also Lance is 24 and Magno is 25 so both do not qualify under the Bosman Rule that Darius qualified under

    Hopefully they will stay.
Does the contract have to be offered in writing, or is a verbal offer sufficient.?
If the latter, we could argue that any under 24 who leaves was offered another deal.

Eh? It's a matter of public record that MyFC voted to make a financial commitment equivalent to offering ONE contract. Pretending that they were all offered terms would be wrong - and stupid.

The offer of re-engagement had to be made in writing and a copy sent to the FA, this happened in the case of Darius hence the reason we are entitled to a fee from Stevenage

    Kieron,

No doubt that will be the topic of discussion between the Chairman, Chief Executive and Liam in near future, we have done all we can within the time frame of the Bosman ruling at the moment
