The pricing could also be tailored depending on the type of package, For example a childs birthday package could be a burger and chips plus autographs and photographs with their favorite players, whereas a group of say 6 adults would go for maybe the welcome drink, Meal and maybe a couple of after match drinks, Price would be according to what was offered in the package, The figure I quoted was the amount we paid for a Div 1 package, the price we could charge would depend on what facilities we can offer,
The main aspect of this kind of thing at our level is to give the paying customer what he/she wants within an affordable budget and the clubs facilities and tailor the charge accordingly. on the advertising front I ommitted flyers/posters to local schools in the previous post.

    This is very good stuff.

It won't happen simple as, the local community just don't give 2 hoots about the club and certainly won't pay that price to watch non league football when they can pay a fiver more to watch Championship/League 1 football.

you know what i have a non league team about four miles away from me. if they had put a leaflet through my door.i would have probably give it a go.and got hooked.but it did not happen.
people think i am strange travelling lots of miles to see the the fleet perhaps i am
but perhaps one leaflet through the front door would of made a world of difference advertising your local club

I think quite a few people take an interest in their local club i.e the local community. However, as I have said before, it's one thing the faithful 600 standing there on a cold winter's night ( is it supposed to minus 4 tomorrow night ?) and getting the not so faithful out of the pub to stand in a cold & archaic environment.
Shame we couldn't get the green light for the new A2 stadium.

What happened to the Friday night game "experiments" ? they seemed to increase the crowd....any plans to re instate those ?

Also, again it has been mentioned before, can we not engage the local Asian community further ?

    Cheers,

Ok have read back over some of the comments over the last few days on this thread.

The one that sticks out is that the local population don't give a hoot.

i'm sure there is a lot of truth in that statement but I think that would apply to any product prior to it being marketed. We have seen that there is at least a passing interest rather than no interest. People are right that going to Wembley is special and it is, but why, if they don't give a hoot did they choose to go to Wemmbley when Ebbsfleet played? Are they not plenty of Wembley games to go and have a jolly with your mates? Did they not go because it was their local team?

Also the free game, 3750 turned up. I have seen plenty of comments since saying, dur of course they did, it was free. However, before the game people also said there would be little interest, less than 2000 was the general prediction, many said less than 1500. It was well promoted though and they came. Now, ok it was free but why did they come? My partner Kate got a couple of tickets to the ballet in convent garden, its expensive the ballet, bloody expensive and wanted me to go with her. I love her to bits of course and enjoy a night out with her very much, but the ballet I had to draw the line on and she took a friend and they had a great evening. The point is that if they were not interested at all then they would not have come to the free game either.

At the beginning of last season, the wembley contacts were all mailed for a 2 for 1 promotion. People will remember that for several games after that, attendances were higher than anticipated.

We have to try and create the demand, and this mailing list is about as targeted as we can hope for.

Also bear in mind that persistance is required. We may not get hundreds piling down to Stonebridge road immediately but these things tend to have a snowball effect if we keep it up.

It is indeed, though I still think that somewhere down the line if we can show that there is some local interest in the team then the council may well look at it again. Particularly as they are sitting on several million pounds of marketable real estate that they might like to cash in on at some point.

The council may reconsider after they realise how much it will cost to clear up the used needles and clean the graffiti, compared to the income from 5 cyclists using the velodrome, and the pair of chess players playing at the outdoor chess arena.

...and.....wasn't the plan to make it a community stadium so that it would be used for more events than just the Football Club ??

Having worked on behaviour change projects in large companies I can confirm that persistance is indeed required. You need to think in terms of a few years of activity rather than a few months. The guys giving out leaflets last season got it started and this should continue it well. Will you be including money-off vouchers in the mailing?

That is Steve's shout I guess but I was hoping for the following.

    List of fixtures.
    brief message from Duncan
    brief message from Liam,
a short sharp call to arms

    An image of some sort

and a discount voucher. and/or the offer for cheaper attendance for the last three games. We want email addresses back too so need to encourage the return of the letter or part of it.

I think it's impossible to point to any single factor regarding lower attendance, but I can't help but think we made exactly the wrong move in raising ticket prices this season. Lower ticket prices combined with good marketing can improve attendance, and the increased spending on food and souvenirs can more than make up for the reduced ticket prices. We shot ourselves in the foot with that vote.

According to the FGR website: "In order to promote wider share ownership [in FGR not in the mighty Fleet] it has been decided to reduce the minimum entry level for individual share purchases to £100, from £250. This is in response to a number of requests to lower the level thereby giving access for more supporters. So if you were tempted before but couldn’t quite make the £250, now is the time to step forward and support the club. The change has been made in the belief that it will promote a wider community based ownership of the club and in the hope that this brings the opportunity to buy shares to many more of you. This move has been, in part, inspired by the success the Trust has had in giving access to the broader fan base. So we have now followed their lead and ask as many of you as feel able, to now take up the offer. There has never been a better or more vital time for everyone to join in with what is happening and going to happen at FGR. We, being a community based club, need all of the support we can get. Please do your best to find the £100 (or persuade someone you know who does – spread the word), and buy your way into your club." Given the recent interest of us supporters towards buying SbR, there could be real interest in buying into our club. I'm not suggesting that supporters buy shares from MyFC but additional shares could be issued to facilitate the investment. "So why would supporters want to buy shares when the return would be non-existent?" some would ask. The answer is because we're supporters and have a team that needs our support. If it's good enough for FGR, then it's good enough for the mighty Fleet.

fleetstats, thank-you for this. As a now ex-member of MyFC I can say that if I had a real holding EUFC via MyFC I'd still be a member and indeed a shareholder in the club. That, for someone who would have to make a 1500 mile round trip to see a home game, would have given me a real connection with the club and not a timeshare by proxy. I never wanted to pick the team, it was fun to vote on some issues though but there never was any permanent connection between me and Ebbsfleet. I am sure that a sense of real ownership was the missing ingredient from the MyFC project.

There have been so many missed opportunities to raise funds and keep many of the former MyFC contributors engaged. Share ownership was just the start. I recall in one of the early society board elections that MyFC had one candidate whose manifesto I read proposed a weekly lottery, each member pledging a £1 a week (imagine if MyFC were able to get 20,000 members signed up for this: 20,000 x 50 There could have been some attractive prizes and substantial funds for the club), but the proposer didn't get elected and nothing came of the idea.

Making people feel part of EUFC is IMHO the way ahead, especially those in remote locations. MyFC gave EUFC worldwide exposure, sadly I feel this will be quickly lost as MyFC never really lived up to its promise of own the club.

I think your right cph your reason for not renewing could apply to several thousand ex myfc members....they never felt they owned the club as you state more like timeshare, If Myfc get some sort of shareholding going whereby members can become shareholders in EUFC then I think there would be more interest, But it needs doing fast, otherwise those ex myfc members will be gone forever.

Remember...the value ( in ownership terms ) of shares can go down, as well as down !

As a matter of interest, how well subscribed is the Goalden Lottery and how much is it producing for the club?

That might be worth promoting to the local people - even if they're not interested in the club, they might be prepared to donate a pound or two if they thought they could win a few quid back

Mike Povey has organised for Cliff Egan (the Lottery Man) to visit the local pubs that do posters/vouchers and get them to sell Goalden Lottery tickets.

If anyone knows of alocal business that will sell the tickets let me know and I will pass on to Cliff. They do get commission and the benefits to the club are significant. I forget the exact figures but with relatively modest sales the financial return would be about £20K!

I'll dig out the details and get them out asap.

Further to Keith's post, you can download a Goalden Lottery form from the club website.
