Computer problem

It may seem off topic, but my problem ONLY occurs on the official website.
When I click on a news link, the page shows, then I promptly get a message saying Internet Explorer cannot display page http/xxxxx operation aborted.
When I close the message, the whole page disappears.
At present the only way I can read the news is to drag the header bar of the message out of the way without closing it.
    Very puzzling and perplexing.
My home computer is the only one I use on which this happens, and fleet is the only site it happens to.
Only serious or helpful suggestions please.

More often than not this is a bug in Internet Explorer 7. As RS says you're best off changing browsers - if you don't want to download firefox (but why wouldn't you?) then upgrade to IE 8 - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx.

If you're already on IE 8 then it seems Microsoft have failed in fixing the bug - alternatively the code on the site could probably do with a touch of tweeking as it's probably only a tiny little bit of the site (probably a Javascript element) causing it.

Thanks, fellas. Iam using IE7. The only reason I havn't switched to FF (although I have it installed) is the rest of the family can't get on with it.
As Ian says, it could be aa glitch in the Javascript as it only occurs on news links, nowhere else on the site.
I s'pose I 'll have to break the bad news in the morning - Firefox it is.

Run both - no conflict or issues - everyone's a winner...

It doesn't need to be either - or, HG. You can have both on your machine; you can use FF and your family can use Micro$haft IE. You can have both running at the same time if you like. On my work computer I normally use FF but some of the company sites need IE, so I often have both running together.

Firefox now faster still with the latest version. I use it as my default browser & keep IE8 for those Neolithic sites which only work with Internet Explorer. If you install the IE View Firefox extension you can move from FF to IE through right click & also tell those stubborn FF hating sites to always open in IE.

    Firefox 3.5.1

    IE View
