Well I've been home for 20 minutes now and am quite pleased with what I saw today. Negatives first then we can get onto the good stuff. In the first half we were still playing too much Route 1, lumping it up for Vieira and Shakes of all people to win. On the few occaisions we did keep it down we soley utilized the left flank, I think Forshaw only touched the ball twice all half! didn't really create anything other than the odd half chance either. Defensively we were okay, but Crooks needs to wise up to the fact that if you keep your hands on opposition you will get pulled up for it. Saying that though he put in a strong but fair shoulder tackle that was completely diabollically ruled as a foul.
Second half we came out a much better side, challenging hard and playing football on the deck, albeit still down the left until the introduction of West, where it switched to the right, capped by one beautiful ball from Heeroo which set Westy free but he wasted the chance by trying to squeeze it in the near post when going across the keeper would have been better. Lindie for the injured Vieira was a good move, he held the ball up well, was a willing runner and took hid goal well.

Refereeing standards are still crap, although I think we were lucky Shoulton only got a yellow for a two footed off the floor lunge in the second half and Welsh should have seen yellow for persistent fouling. Other than that the ref was a pure homer.

Bring on Cambridge while they're in termoil!

26 points ahead of Chester. Can't see us finishing bottom now, as long as they complete the season.
Very decent result today, Well done to Liam and all the squad.

Well played today, looked really promising showed great determination! Shame about the disallowed goal, was never a foul! Whole team looks solid with Crooks and Darius at the back! Can't wait for Cambridge on Tuesday, I believe we have a team capable of a top half finish this season definatley the potential is there! UP THE FLEET!...was nice to see alot of fans up there too!

I Went up for the match, first half I felt we were finding our feet as almost a new team. Pre season Friendlies dont have the pace and agression of a first team league match. Second half we looked like a team starting to play with a bit of team spirit and begining to gell. I thought Heroo and Schulton were really dominating Altys midfield. Our goal came from Schulton winning the ball in the middle and putting in Shakes to cross the ball for Lindie to finish.Looking on Skysports scorecentre commentary when got home we were edging the game and it was Schulton[silly tackle for card but still young] and Heroo who were the key players.Looking forward to next match , first point, good day out.

Listened to the match on the Internet and the broadcast quality was excellent. Sounded like Cronin was left for dead on Alty's goal. As for the disallowed goal, was the call legit, or is Graham Poll making a comeback? Sorry, just got 2006 on my mind.

Apart from the odd few refereeing standards tend not to be that great at Conference level, at least that's my view. More inconsistancy yesterday with defenders climbing over forwards, whenever we did it the ref called it, when they did it there was nothing. From that make your own mind up...........

    Thanks for the reports
I think we would all have settled for a point away first game after all the changes.
We need to "gel" as a team and friendlies only go so far in doing that. The squad Liam has put together is a credit to him.
Hope we can improve on this and stuff Cambridge on Tuesday

Great result sounds like we now have a squad ready to take on anyone and get a result.
How know perhaps even the play-offs, sorry not perhaps, I feel confident that we can finish up there.
Liam has really got us a good young side so look out everyone because the Fleet are in town.
How about that for a new chant 'The Fleet are in town'

Chas made a comment after the game that Jordan Collins had said he'd learned a tremendous amount in the 3 weeks he's been at the club. Others will no doubt be the same. With Cambridge seemingly in turmoil at the moment, we must have a reasonable chance of 3 points on Tuesday. Incidentally, the pre-season results also look betterafter Colchester won 7-1 at Norwich yesterday (& Orient won again aswell)

Well done lads the promising thing I felt is that we came back after going a goal down! Great to see we are keeping the pre season feeling going of not putting our heads down after we go behind!

Looking forward to Tuesday night and seeing the side that Liam puts out. Anyone any idea why Vieria came off??

    Come on you Reds!

I was pleased when I heard we had Won a point yesterday in our 1st Match Away, we can build on that on Tuesday against a demorilised Cambridge United side.
