Blimey...
Season Ticket holders are paying roughly £9 a game so I think not.
Season ticket holders obviously don't matter to the 40 people that have seconded it so far.
That is totally ridiculous!
Whoever is putting this proposal forward is out to ruin the club
Just done some basic maths based on what has been published in last year. My calculations are for gate of 3000+ to sustain us as we are gate and revenue from matches wise and thats if you make £5 profit from most punters.
To get 3000+ we need a professional sustained marketting campaign that isnt going to happen.
I can see it now , wet tuesday night in February , home to Eastbourne,FGR or similar level club and Champions League is on ITV.
Will still be sub 1000 in attendance.
Who propsed this?
Good to see a bunch of professionals owning the club
I agree Peter.
Makes you wonder if they know where we are and the pressures of Gillinghams and Charltons promotions.
Along with Gravesend being a town with lots of commuters , and unemployment rising more than the national average and not yet levelled out.
Im all for cheap football , but that is as a package/group but £7 is ridiculous.
Great idea, my mini season ticket is just about to run out, too.
Ridiculous maybe £12 at a push but definitely no lower.
As a season ticket holder I have always maintained that the £15 admission price is too high and do not mind what it is reduced to, but it is now far too late in the season now to promote through drastic price reductions. By the time word gets round we will be in to May. What must not happen next season is for rediculously high prices for both adults and chidren(£8!) be allowed to be voted for by people who do not understand our local economy.
It was a stupid idea putting it up to £15 in the first place which was a bad move and the club are feeling the pressure now.
Definatley...But we learn from mistakes, it seems the Club has learnt from this one, but Gravesender's don't care about The Fleet this was proved with the free game last season! 4000 turned up what was the following 3 gates? Anyone who's up on the stats? JC?Whoever is putting this proposal forward is out to ruin the club
Erm, remember the fuss about reducing to £13...
And the big line that came from the club, saying the Conference have to agree to any price change...
Does anyone think they will agree to this?
No, me neither.
Does anyone actually think before proposing things and going to all the trouble of getting people to second them?
After the free game, the following 3 home games were:
Burton(the one that got called off)
Wrexham(3-1 win in the FA Trophy)
and the 0-0 draw with York on that Sunday.
The attendences for these were:
681
992
1244
Poor if you ask me.
Cheers eufcfan okay Burton match even after the free game wouldve like 800 then Wrexham? following the cup success only 992? and ok York on a Saturday after the 3-1 win? and the Free game shoulda at least been 1500.
I'd have expected around 900 at the Burton game 1000 at the Wrexham game and pushing for 1500 for York game. The amount of people that came, 'cause it was free is ridiculous!
If we was to hold a free game again, we'd get at least 3,000 there.

No, not on this occasion, it seems. No research, no feasibility, he hasn’t asked anyone at the club.
He just seems to assume that if we lower the price then more will come.

That's because they weren't free.
We have fickle supporters simple as, the charlton game tonight you could of got in for a ticket priced at £17, a small price difference compared to the fleet. To boost attendances we have a marketing team at the fleet and i see no evidence of promoting the club apart from milesys good work with the posters in pub/chip shop etc windows. I know it is difficult for people to afford coming to football in the current climate so it is going to be difficult for many teams at whatever level to counteract this.
i tell you what Albie, you hit the nail on the head there, fickle supporters and Charlton charging currently £2 more for league football.
Also like what i said the club is not being promoted to the community properly get the players into these schools and get the word out on the street. We win 3 or 4 games people come back but when we had this spell at the start of the season when we couldn't score for toffee the so-called supporters didn't bother coming back.
get the players into these schools
This is already being done, as far as I'm aware.
I agree getting the Lads into school assembleys would be great! then maybe do a 15 minute session with each class through the day. Would be great.
I know some players are doing training with some children at Cygnets I think Chris Henry is regular at the sessions and i think its on Thursdays but im not aware of Liam or Macca with some of the lads getting into assembleys.
Below is what I posted at MYFC. From a financial point of view this proposal could be a positive for the club, although it is a gamble of course but at the moment the club will be lucky to be here at the end of the season anyway!
Also for the record the person who has proposed this is the marketing director for Barnsley Football Club and has a wealth of experience in this area.
===================================
Conclusion (incase you don't want to read everything below)
This proposal has the potential to bring in more money to the club if marketed/advertised to the fans of the club, the figures below support my reasoning behind the statement. of course it all boils down to does the club have the fans, past promotions suggest they do (free game brought in over 3,000 fans)
The £13 will not make a difference, £7 may just make the difference required, although there will be more of on field benefit then financial benefit.
First of all lets look at some figures before any decisions are made (all figures exclude FGR Game on Saturday),
The average gate for the season currently stands at 878 per home game.
Out of this gate 339 of these are season ticket holders and 102 are various complimentary tickets. So paying on the gate every game is 437 Fans of both home and away.
The home fans make up 272 with away fans at 165.
The away fans figure is however higher then reality due to the Wimbledon, Oxford and Cambridge who brought a lot more fans then regular away travel although we do the Luton game coming up (I know York was mentioned earlier in the thread but they brought 123 fans with them last season, not groundbreaking as far as away support is concerned)
So taking the 'Big Games' out of the equation the average away gate would be 64.
This would mean on average a paying gate is 336 fans every game. This can then be split down further with an approximate 60:40 split between Adult Prices and Concessions.
202 Full Paying Adults and 134 Concession tickets are sold at an average home gate this season. These figures brings us to an average gate income of £3719 (I have taken VAT off any takings)
Some other figures to take into account are the following:
Programmes are sold to 34% of the total attendance
Each Person through the home gate spends approximatly £1.81 in the bar and £1.32 on food for each match. (this is home fans only as the away fans do not have access to the facilties)
Regardless of attendance the 50/50 draw is pretty consistant with approximatly £350 taken per game.
Now with the above proposal I am assuming that ALL TICKETS would be £7 and Children would be £1 per game, I have no figures to support how many children come through the gates but I am making the assumption that 33% of all concessions are children.
The average income for the season based on the above observations is £6790
The free game from last season brought in the same amount of income as the average for this season.
The cost of sales are obviously higher for items inside the ground. There is a very high Profit Margin on ticket prices.
Running the model above with the current figures at a £7 ticket price would bring in income of £5,191. bringing in a maximum income difference of £1599.
Assuming that away fans are constant the only increase in income would be to increase the home attendance by boosting the pay on the day gate.
based on the assumption each extra person would bring in £9.20 in income to the club.
The club would need an extra 173 fans through the gate to bring in the same amount of match day income.
A total of 446 paying home fans at each game, last season the average for a home game was 536 home fans.
If we could reach out to the same number of fans as last season, not only would be surpass the current levels of revenue for a match day we would also surpass the current profit for each game.
I would support this proposal from a financial point of view, if marketed to the fans of the club I think that it would prove sucessful both financially and by bringing fans back to stonebridge road.
I should also add I have suggested that the proposal be changed to the last three games of the season to maximise revenue from the Luton game.
Yes but with that drop in price that is rather harsh on people that have bought season tickets. My qualm is the club doesn't do enough promotion to the local community, if this was to happen it would have to be done in the correct manner.

Agree completley with you.
It does tread on the toes of the season ticket holders, arguably the core fan base of the club. The season ticket would still be value for money however taking into account the remaining games at £7. My personal prefered option would be to run it for the last three games of the season only, games where support of the team will be needed, the relegation battle could well hinge on the results of these three games.
As for the promotion of this, it would have to be done in a professional manner, this is as most are aware is not the clubs strong point and could be where such an initive falls flat on its face, saying that however it managed to bring in 3000 punters last season and that game alone brought in more money then the majority of games so far this season.
